Agape CBO existed as an informal group of concerned Kasarani residents before our founding members sat down to draft and unanimously adopt a formal Constitution on 20 February 2024, ahead of registration with the Directorate of Social Development a couple of weeks later.
The Constitution set out, in writing, what had previously existed only as shared understanding: a General Assembly as the supreme decision-making organ, an elected Executive Committee responsible for day-to-day administration, clear rules on finances and bank signatories, and a formal process for handling disputes or amending the document itself.
That structure matters practically, not just on paper. It means office bearers are elected and accountable to the membership, funds require two of three signatories to move, and decisions about programmes and direction follow a defined process rather than informal consensus among whoever happens to be present. It is, in a real sense, the document everything else we do stands on.
